Brooklands Indian Head Massage Therapy is provided by Roisin Byrne
Indian Head Therapy has roots in ancient Indian practices, traditionally carried out in homes as part of an oral tradition. In India's intense heat, it formed a crucial element in the regimen for maintaining healthy, lustrous hair, complemented by the use of oils, while also being appreciated for its therapeutic effects.
In the 1980s, Narendra Mehta, a native Indian physiotherapist and massage therapist based in London, adapted these traditional techniques into a treatment specifically designed for individuals seated in an ordinary chair. The treatment extends to the upper back, shoulders, upper arms, neck, and face, incorporating some work on the higher subtle energy centers in the body.
Indian Head Therapy is commonly sought after as a relaxing indulgence. It proves particularly beneficial for alleviating conditions such as neck and shoulder tension, tension headaches, sinus symptoms, and eye strain.
